It was March 2020 when Rose opened the doors of the coffeeshop for business. Leading up to this she only had bits and pieces of a dream put together. Every place she had looked at didn't work out. Her love for baking, coffee and people is where it starts. She struggled finding a coffeeshop to visit that made from scratch bakery. As well as struggling to find good coffee at a bakery. The two go so well together it became part of her vision. She spent some of her time baking cakes for others and donating the money to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. The old Hillside School House building was going up for sale in January 2019 and little did she know that she'd only set foot inside once before it would be hers. Her brother let her know it was going up for sale and everything after that point just fell into place. She saw a vision of what the building could be and believed that God had a purpose and a plan. It was meant to be, even opening right before the world had come to a screeching halt with COVID-19 closing so many small businesses, Rose and her staff at Hillside are one of the few that strived and thrived . It's still open today. She has done a miraculous job of keeping the building's history alive and being so attentive to every little detail. There is always something going on, whether it's a book reading or some other type of event. Hillside is a warm, homey place. Families are definitely welcomed.
